Leshuta Community Cooperative

Leshuta is a cooperative of Maasai farmers that live in a communal village. They have a primary school on-site and families work together to provide for the community. They primarily focus on raising and rearing livestock as the Maasai are traditionally pastoralists. The Leshuta community has around 22,000 livestock, a bee keeping operation, ram fattening and bull rearing operations.

"The water has changed the lives of everyone, especially the women who used to walk about 4 miles every day to collect water. Our lives have also improved economically because having a nearby water source has been saved us time and allows us more time to spend on productive work and schooling."
- Paul Karani, Leshuta Chief & Site Director, 2020
